Hello,
My dell c840 came up with the 'Unmountable Boot Volume' BSoD yesterday, after being turned off for ~5 hrs. It will not boot, safe mode or otherwise.
I got the laptop used coupl'a years ago, so I don't have the orig. WinXP cd-rom. Am I stuck buying a new $200 prgm to fix this?

Nope. Find any Dell XP disk and you will be fine. It will even activate the OS for you. But you will likely need to find the correct drivers for that model yourself. The dell site should have them.

Any OEM copy of XP would also work, but you would have to activate it over the phone. Not a big deal. But another dell disk would be ideal.
