Hi - I bought several new items for my kids for Christmas to try to make their virtual learning easier. Unfortunately, now that I have all of it, I am not sure how everything goes together!! LOL I am relatively computer literate, but this one is a little beyond me and I am trying to get everything I need BEFORE we give it to them for Christmas!! I have listed links to the items below and I believe I will also need a powered USB hub, which I listed as well. I tried making a diagram to try to figure it out, but since I am not sure of which items can be linked in what ways, I am at a loss!!

One caveat: I would LOVE to be able to link everything through the hub so that all my kids have to do is plug the hub into their Chromebooks/laptops (they are only 10yo & 12yo) , but I am not sure that this can be done. Can anyone help?? Thanks in advance for any info you can provide!! :)

Speakers - USB
kbd/mouse - USB
Plug these into the USB hub, the hub connects to the laptop

Webcam - Doesn't the laptop already have one built in?
Monitor - That depends on the available ports on the laptop

The webcam is separate - the monitor does not have one built-in. The laptop/Chromebook only has a USB-A and the monitor has a HDMI. Can I use a HDMI to USB cord to plug in the monitor??

Right, a separate webcam.
But the laptop/Chromebook doesn't have its own built in? Most recent ones do.

HDMI->USB?
Possibly one of these:

(unsure if that will work on the Chromebook)

Yes, the laptop and Chromebook both have webcams, but when they use the monitor, I thought it would be easier to have the webcam mounted on the monitor (27"). Can I plug the webcam directly into the monitor or will that not work?? If not, can the webcam be plugged into the hub or does it have to plugged into the computer to work?? Sorry for all the questions - I'm just a mom trying to make this work!! LOL

The webcam needs to be plugged into the laptop. I imagine through the hub would also work.
