Is there any programme to shut down my desktop when CPU temperature reaches a certain point? My target is to shut down at 70C.
Can I use the motherboard BIOS to achieve that?

A modern cpu will shut down or downclock automatically when it reaches a dangerous temperature.
For haswell chips, that is near 100c.

Speedfan, a free app, can give you a warning if you exceed a cpu temperature point.
That lets you shut down gracefully which is better than a crash.

Yes but after reading all the articles on Intel using inferior TIM instead of the durable flux-less solder I want to make sure that my CPU never reaches a critical temperature.

Thank you smorizio!
Most of my components are here. However I haven’t bought RAM, hence my build has not been assembled yet. My motherboard is an ASUS sabertooth mark1. Does its BIOS support temperature monitoring and shutdown? Is 70C a save choice or do I have to lower it?
