Question - How can I tell if my 2008 HP Pavilion a6745f Desktop PC has a "Proprietary" case?

I want to see if I can fit a current LGA-1150 or 1151 mobo in there. But I do not have one on me.
I need to see if the mounting holes lines up and if anything is in the way, like the PSU or where the drives go in the cage for the front bays. The internal HD bay. I basically epoxied the front bay in place. The front cover is friction fit with flap down thingy's for the DVD-RW which I never use. I could rip that front bay out. Then I'd need to see if the internal HD bay is in the way. The key is for the mounting holes and if the PSU is in the way. I will take some pictures for you guys.

So you can see the front cover for the computer clips on.
You can see most of the holes for the motherboard. Are those normal holes for a mATX?
The front bays I can rip out easy enough.
The internal HD bays I should leave in place. But I could epoxy it onto another area out of the way.

I should then look for a mATX mobo then right, or is an ATX the same width but a bit longer?

Solution

That PC uses a standard mATX motherboard. As far as whether or not an ATX would fit - count the expansion slots, if it only has 4 it is restricted to mATX. If it has additional space, and you count 7 expansion slots, then you could put an ATX in there instead.

Hey I was just surfing TomsHW and found this

comparing the standard ATX with my mATX It looks like the only holes that will not line up are the bottom (on that link, 2nd picture down) but I think since ATX is longer, it most likely will not fit.

OK yeah I have only 4 expansion slots (PCI-e) so I am restricted to using a mATX mobo. I thought I could save $50 min. on a case. Its getting raggity anyways so I will find a nice ATX case in a style that will live on for years to come!

I could custom fit it, with stand offs.
