I have a HP Compaq 6305 Pro that I am going to try to turn into a gaming pc. I planned to use this computer as a base, install a MSI X370 motherboard (I know this board uses different ram than the currently installed board), a new PSU, and a better GPU, will all this work? If not, what can I do to make this PC good for gaming. (Working on a budget)

Assuming the HP Compaq 6305 Pro you're talking about is the small form factor, I wouldn't even bother. You're going to have to replace damn near every component with that and the added cost and time/frustration of trying to build in a SFF case with after market parts (if even possible with the PSU) is going to be more than just buying a new case.

I have the exact same machine and I'm going to use mine for media, mostly- but also for gaming. There are graphics cards you can get that won't choke the psu too much, and they're better than the integrated graphics for sure.

I was also reading in the thread here: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2859246/graphics-card-compaq-pro-6300-sff.html about possibly replacing the psu with a better one but it's not the 6305, it's a 6300 so I don't know. I am waiting for an answer to that in here myself.
