Hello everyone! I have an Acer Aspire 4830TG that I have owned for about 4 years. I keep the thing in great condition, and I have replaced the screen that once died, and upgraded a few other components along the years. Here are the current specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5 2450M Quad Core @2.5GHz
GPU: nVidia GT540M (slightly overclocked)
Storage: 300GB Intel 320 series SSD
RAM: 16GB Crucial DDR3L

I would like to upgrade some of the components inside this laptop for a little boost in gaming and video editing, and just general power. I saw some videos online of people that upgraded their laptops, however, none of them really explained how to do it correctly. I know how to disassemble the machine as I have replaced components before, and I just want to upgrade the CPU in the machine, and, if possible, the GPU. I'm pretty darn sure that the GPU cannot be upgraded, however, I figured I would ask, just in case.

Thanks for your help!

What I meant by there is no upgrade for CPU in that Laptop is that you can't upgrade to a better CPU – you will basically go from i5-2450M to i7-2620M for $70, which is not a big improvement.
What do you mean? I have seen multiple videos telling me that you CAN upgrade the CPU. I am not buying a new laptop, as I already have a better one. (it's a Predator gaming laptop) I want to get this one upgraded because I want to have something more portable than that gigantic machine.

"It is possible to upgrade the CPU on some laptops, but you'll need to hunt down a specific mobile processor for it. Laptops are far more picky than desktop PCs about such upgrades."

But, my question is: Would that perform ANY better than the current i5?
