Win XP. Nvidia GT 210 GPU set to match native display resolution of 1366 x 768. Refresh rate at 60 Hz. Text displays on screen with variable weight: mostly thin and sharp with a vertical band of heavier darker letters. Changing refresh rate to 59 Hz doesn't resolve it. Anyone know the solution?

Have you reinstalled the GPU drivers? Manually download from Nvidia's website, reinstall, and reconfigure. No third party tools or installers. Be sure that the source website is truly Nvidia - not that "Nvidia" just happens to appear in the website's pathname.

Does the vertical band of dark letters stay in the same physical screen area/column?

Does the same thing happen if another monitor or even a TV is used?

Does the vertical band occur if another computer or GPU is used?

The key is to narrow the list of likely culprits by swapping components, configurations, etc..
