Frankly there isn't much chance unless you report it missing and the Police happen upon it. I'm sorry it's harsh to say this but if the data weren't important enough to back up, you can and will have to live without it.

When you buy a replacement, mark it with Smart Water and the type of pens that write your postcode (zipcode) invisibly on to your property. There's a much better chance of recovery with that information to hand.

Long shot - a friend had this happen and he went around the local bars saying he was looking for a cheap laptop. After a few days he bought his back but I can't post here what he did to the seller.
