how come my LCD LED Monitor Flickering?

hi everyone

I just received my viewsonic VX2770, pretty happy with it..except when I use my cell phone camera to see vx2770 screen, I can see flickering.

I asked ppl on amazon for Asus MX279H,
to see if they have the problem too. ( I was consider to change to MX279H)

I thought only old CRT monitor does flickering when set refresh rate too low. how come LCD LED monitor Flicking??

I tested 2 of my laptop and my old hp 19" lcd monitor didn't have the problem!!

or all IPS monitor has this kind of problem?

please help! im not sure if I should return it..

This isn't a problem or defect at all, it's just something that happens depending on the backlighting system. I'm guessing what you're seeing is low-frequency PWM flicker that's too fast for your eyes to notice, but slow enough to easily spot through a camera recording of the screen. To see if that's what it is, try setting your brightness to max and then look at it again through your cell phone cam to see if it looks the same. Either way, it doesn't matter since you don't notice it any other time.

thanks for the reply.
your answer make me feel a little bit better ( In case, its Normal). but most important thing is, if one monitor flickering, and the other one does not. does that make difference of your eye strains? (im staring monitor 8 hours a day)

although i cant see it with eyes..but somehow I can tell the light is not too stable? its like when you set your old CRT monitor to 60hz. and when you set it to higher refresh rate. your eye feel more comfortable with it

Only you can be the judge of that since comfort is subjective. I'd recommend using the monitor for at least a week so you can find out whether or not the backlight frequency will be a problem for you. If you do find the monitor to be distracting, or downright uncomfortable to look at for hours a day, you'll want to replace it immediately with a PWM flicker-free monitor.
