How cryptocurrecy mining effect on GPUs ?

Sorry for my poor knowledge on the feild.from what I understood this effects the prizes of gpu s .minors buy higher end gpu s for mining and because of this we see a lack of supply for the demand and therefore prize goes up? Is this what’s happening or if not can someone explain it a bit .i appreciate this verrryyyy much

That is the simple version of whats happening.
Miners are buying up cards, there arent enough cards, prices skyrocket. There are underlying issues other than there not being enough cards, but thats even more in depth. The next level down is the NAND shortage going on, making it hard to manufacture cards.
