How do I add more display ports to my pc?

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone could help me with a small issue I've been having.

I have a GTX 970. It comes with a DVI-D, a DVI-I and a HDMI slot. I'm currently using a DVI-I to VGA to plug in my first monitor. I have recently aquired a second monitor however and there is no cheap adapter for a DVI-D to VGA adapter.

I was wondering if I could somehow add more display ports to my PC? I read somewhere that adding another graphics card of the same make (NVIDIA) would work, but the Quadro with a DMS-59 port I added did not work at all.

So any tips on how I can get some more ports without having to buy another GTX 970 (Which I do not have the money for at all).

I see where i got confused being a 59pin plug, i thought it was just a standard split adapter called DMS-59, its new to me sorry lol.

Windows can handle more than 1 VGA driver so maybe try the Quadro in the primary PCIe slot and when you run a game, drag it over to the screen the 970 is using. See if you get a display this way from the Quadro with this configuration. I'm assuming you installed drivers for the Quadro the first time you tried?

Before trying again, make sure you uninstall/clean install when you change the PCIe slot positions.

Both monitors only have VGA connections then correct? Rather than buy a whole new GPU, you could shell out the money for the more expensive connectors (like you said) which looks to be about $30-100, far far less than a $300+ GPU.

It's possible to run two different graphics cards but depends what you want to do and also more hassle than it's worth. Depending what you want to do as well, assuming you're a gamer with a GTX970 having different set of drivers wont make it easy.

Have you tried the DMS-59 only on the 970? Long as the graphic card can run multiple displays which it can, running the DMS-59 on the DVI-I output to 2x VGA adapters should work.

I am a gamer, but I also use my PC for game dev work as well as watching films and the like. I'd only want the one screen while I'm gaming mind, the second screen helps with productivity is all.

I'm not quite sure what you mean in the second paragraph? The DMS-59 port is only on the Quadro card, and is sadly not recognised when my GTX is plugged in, I believe due to a drastic incompatibility. When I just have the Quadro installed, it works fine, but I obviously lack the performance of the 970.
