How do I assign 1 drive letter to 2 HDDs?

I currently have 2 500GB HDDs in a RAID 0 configuration but I would like to get away from this. Is there some other alternative to combining 2 drives with Windows 10? I am about to reformat and just want to make sure I go with the best option.

The computer is just used for gaming and a little bit of programming and unreal development.

I much prefer a drive for the OS and applications, and other drives for other things.
It's just another drive letter. No different than just another folder.
I don't want any more subdirectories than needed. I already have a C and I like the normal hierarchy that windows sets up. I want them combined like they are in RAID without having to use RAID drivers or the intel rapid storage software.

I will look into that. Also another part of the issues is that I want both HDDs to fill up at the same rate or close to that. I don't want to have to worry about moving stuff around when I fill up one of them with games.

At some point, you, the human, must take control of what goes where.

Or go back to RAID0

That might work. Personally, I've never seen the need.

But...before and after you mess with this...have a good backup. Just in case.

Why does it really matter if one drive fills up and the other does not? It's not like your computer will tip over because all the data is on one side of it. Is this your only set of hard drives or do you have a system drive and this is just for data storage? If your only drives, I suggest either using one of them as a main drive, getting a 1tb drive for storage and using the second 500gb drive for backing up files you don't want to lose.

I finf it unusual why what I am wanting to do seems so odd. I want the computer to manage the hard driver storage. I don't want to deal with it. I only have the two HDDs and I can't afford to buy a larger one or I would just have a 3tb HDD and be done with it.

The 500GB fills up too fast with all the different games I play so separating them will only make more work for me when I inevitably fill the data drive up. Then I will have to start storing data on the system drive anyways.

Edit: I guess I could just buy another HDD later and add onto it though. I just don't like the idea of having more drive letters.

That might be more convenient. WIll that detract from the advantages of having a dedicated OS HDD?

As long as you have a backup you can use RAID 0. If you have a full image you can just restore the image. If you just backup files you will have to reinstall the OS.

As far as using JBOD you should be able to use it as a boot drive drive. JBOD just shows all the disk as indvidual disk and not as a RAID.

Mounting a hard drive in a empty subfolder wouldn't detract the OS from being on its own drive because it is, BUT i think the Master File Table is all in one file and not two sepearte files and not sure how it would work if you remove the drives. and try to access the drive that was mounted in the folder though. let me play with it today first and I have never really used it before but have thought about using it though.
