Let me just ask something, i have exactly so as mentioned A2&B2 (2x 8GBRAM)If you installed 2 dimms, one in slot A2 and one in slot B2, it's running dual channel.
Hello,Sticks in A2/B2 will show dual channel in cpu-z.
Add a stick in A1 or B1, cpu-z will still show dual channel. Add sticks in A1 & B1, cpu-z will still show dual channel.
In reality, 3x sticks is called flex mode, it'll use the dual channel ram first, as dual channel, then the remaining ram as single channel, only if it requires the extra. So with you, it'll be pure dual channel for anything 0-16Gb, and flexed dual 16Gb + 4Gb single channel if needing 16.01Gb-20Gb. Cpu-z cannot make the distinction, so labels everything dual channel unless you really mess up and stick both sticks single channel.
Most reporting software (now including Windows) will report the Data Rate, not the Dual Data Rate (DDR). 1796.4MHz =1800MHz (± % of error) Data Rate, = 3600MHz DDR.
