How do I change out this memory board on a HP EliteBook 8440P?!?

I recently got this laptop and will be upgrading the hard drive and the memory. I've got the HP documentation about removing and replacing memory boards, and I've watched videos online, but when I removed the cover over the bottom memory compartment this is what I found:

As you can see, this board is NOT going to pop up and out of its slot. Do I need to remove the whole back of the computer? And why is this memory board so different from what I think I should be seeing?

That's a picture of an empty slot. The other memory slot is under the keyboard.

it looks like there is something on the side of the diims that has to be lifted or pressed. but yes that delinetly looks like a pic of an empty slot if it is the right one

You may be thinking of desktop memory boards or RAM. Laptops use much smaller memory boards to save on size.

nope, just all laptops are different in the layout and boards. i have replaced and upgraded ram in many laptops over the years
