how do i connect 2pair cable to rj45 and rj11 connectors

Thanks eximo for responding. I just want to make a patch cable with an rj45 connector on one end and rj11 connector on the other end using a 2 pair cable of blue and brown.how do I position the colours into the pins on both ends?

Still not getting what you are trying to do. Why are you mixing RJ45 and RJ11? Are you attempting communication or is this just for power or something simpler?

Pin outs for both connectors using standard color coded wires can be found on Wikipedia, but the only reason you would need the standard pin-outs is for Phone or Ethernet, the two can't really be mixed. Serial communication maybe, but then you would be using RS232 or RS485 and then it wouldn't matter what you used so long as the TX and RX wires are swapped and connected at both ends.

Ok let me be more explicit. I have this crazy idea that telephone signals from a pbx device canbe extended through fibre optic cable using fibre optic media converters. The telephone signals come .so am trying to make a patch cord to make the media converter receive signals from the pbx (rj11 to rj45) and then convert it back to ems on the other end then into a telephone. Do u think this is possible or am I crazy? If u think it probably is, how do u think it will work?

Odds are you are not going to get that to work. A media convert is dependent on the protocol and most you will find only support ethernet. RJ45 is purely a cabling standard and many platforms use it...many digital PBX use RJ45 but it is not even close to compatible with a Ethernet jack.

About the only thing you could do was use existing wiring that was of the proper standard but has rj11 jacks. For example say you had a couple of rooms connected with cat5 cable and has 2 pair terminated to the RJ11 jacks. You could build special rj11-rj45 cables that would let you plug standard ethernet devices into these jacks and carry the signals between them. Still it is almost easier to rip out the rj11 keystones and replace them with rj45 rather than make non specialized cables.

can you help me with this, my problem is i have a router with rj45 socket and i have a telephone outlet which have 2 wire,
the question is what pins of the RJ45 do i replace this 2 wire for ethernet?

Ethetnet uses pins 1-2, 3-6 on standard RJ45 connector. If you want to mix this with phone line, it goes on 4-5.

But - if your phone outlet uses terminates standard phone cable (flat four- or six-pin), there is no way you can run Ethernet thru this cable.
