Question How do I convert my 2011 imac into an external monitor

I have a broken 2011 Imac and it will cost too much to fix, so instead i want to convert it into a monitor. I'm not sure how to do this can anyone help?

Unless your 2011 iMac has a mini DisplayPort (or Thunderbolt) port, I don't believe it can be used as a 'monitor' in the traditional sense.

Otherwise, you'd have to find a way to convert the display "out" from any device, to the ribbon cable to provide display to the screen. I'm sure it's theoretically possible, but not likely too viable for most people.
