Hello, can someone explain me how to create a larger partition for Windows 10 updates? As you already know, the KB5034441 updates causes a widespread problem among users across the world, because it requires a larger partition to install.

Here is a photo of the partitions I have in Disk Management: https://i.postimg.cc/RCgBM2xV/IMG_20240111_181225.jpg

As you can see, I have two Recovery partitions, one of which is 2 gigabytes; I created that partition yesterday, following the instructions here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...e-update-400faa27-9343-461c-ada9-24c8229763bf

However, the problem is still persistent.

Maybe the WinRE is associated with the 516 MB Recovery partition, not the 2 GB one I created? If that's the case, what should I do? Maybe I have to delete the 516 MB one? If yes, how?

Do the first step of opening cmd as admin and typing in reagentc /info followed by pressing enter.
Post the results here, this will tell us what partition your RE is on.

You can copy the info to the clipboard by selecting it (drag around it) with the mouse and right clicking.

WinRE is still on the 5th partition, the 516 MB one, not the 4th one, which is the 2 GB partition I created manually following Microsoft's instructions.

Well the simplest solution for you would be to empty the windriver (D: ) partition and then delete it, then resize the RE partition by 250-500mb whatever it needs and then recreate the windriver partition with the left over space and copy the files back into it.

Isn't it possible to use the 2GB partition I created?

Boot up a copy of partition wizard I think you can move space from one partition to another.

Might be a good idea to have a complete backup before muckin around with this.

Thanks, but this doesn't make sense in my case. On my computer, WinRE is no longer using the default Recovery partition, because I created a new Recovery partition of 2 gigabytes.

You can see it here: https://i.postimg.cc/cCdmrnnq/IMG-20240115-225036.jpg

And for creating the new partition, I followed these instructions: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...d=_gk6sioliookfdlkzbla1sd2ahe2x9mdkwjm0jyri00

...and used the following command:

"reagentc /setimage /path \\??\GLOBALROOT\device\harddisk0\partition4\Recovery/WindowsRE"

For starters, the Recovery Partition always has to be the last partition on the disk; not sure how you got it away from the end of the disk. If you think you can handle a partition editing program like Gparted, I found it fairly simple to solve the problem. On a normal disk where the Recovery Partition is at the end, I decreased the size of my data partition by moving the end of the partition until it was 250mb smaller. Then I increased the size of the Recovery Partition by moving the starting point to where the data partition now ends. Worked just fine for me. With your messed up disk you could temporarily move the data from your Windriver partition to your main partition since you seem to have enough space there. Then delete the Windriver partition and move the end of the Recovery Partition to the end of the disk. The move the start of the Recovery Partition so that its around 766mb is size. Then delete the 2GB recovery partition. If you still want a Windriver partition you could create one in the unallocated space with it ending right where the recovery partition starts and sizing it accordingly. Then move the end of the main data partition to the point where the Windriver partition starts.

Was the problem resolved by Microsoft? The last time I turned off the computer, the updates wasn't installed. Now, the update is not visible in the Settings page for updates. Did it glitch and become non visible, or was the problem fixed by Microsoft, which led to the installation of the update?
