How do I extend a public WiFi signal?

I wish to extend a certain public WiFi signal. (FYI: It comes from a neighboring Motel.) I can connect to this signal only in one extreme corner of the room (i.e. the office where I work and also take my breaks in). Therefore I wish to extend the above public WiFi signal to where I can use it (12 feet or more away from the above location). I've thought of using a typical WiFi repeater for this purpose. But I'm not sure if I can set up a typical repeater to work with a signal not originating from my own equipment. Therefore advice/information as to whether and/or how to go about accomplishing this is hereby requested.

What you are asking is not legal.

Those signals are not "public", they're meant for the use of motel guests. What you propose is called theft of service, and is a crime in many (most) jurisdictions.
