I'm not exactly sure how to describe it but here it is. My USB physically broke and I have to repair it or get my data out of it. It is not entirely broken, the green chip in fact looks undamaged. But the USB is broken. There is something attached to the inner wall of the outer casing of the USB, presumably were the green chip connects and this sort of circuit is broken. Is it possible to solder this together, is there a risk of further damage through this method? Can I extract my data in some way? When i pug my usb into the computer, the computer recognizes it but it does not allow me to interact with it. i would really appreciate any sound suggests to these issues, the data inside this usb is very important to me

It's kind of hard to understand how exactly it is broken. "Green chip" and "circuit" are a bit vague, could you maybe provide some pictures? If it only damaged the connector you can still salvage it, in which case yes you can solder it and yes there is risk involved.

If you don't know how to solder you'll probably make a mess and solder all the pins together. You must also take care not to burn the circuitry with the soldering iron.
