My monitor, ASUS VG279Q1A, flickers around the taskbar area. Using 120 Hz removes the flickering but I still want to maximise the use of the monitor.
I've tried tinkering with the NCP power management mode and V-Sync and it hasn't worked. I've also tried using a different DP cable and it still shows the same problem.

CPU - Ryzen 7 3800XT
GPU - Asus TUF RTX 3080 OC
Memory - GSkill Trident Z 32 GB 3600 MHz Dual Channel
Mother Board - Asus TUF X570-PLUS WiFi
Operating System - Windows 10 Pro

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

What BIOS version are you on for your motherboard? You state being on Windows 10, what version(not edition) of the OS are you working with? Might want to take the monitor over to a donor system to see if the issue is present on donor system and is not an isolated event, or at the very least that your monitor doesn't have an issue.

Unfortunately image flickering issues may be an intrinsic defect of that model of monitor, https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?108314-VG279Q-has-flickering-or-horizontal-lines has discussion about other flickering at various refresh rates.

165 Hz is an overdriven refresh rate for these VA panels, I have a ViewSonic XG2703-GS which is 144 Hz, capable of 165 Hz overdriven - to be honest I don't use it above 100 Hz because it's unnecessary for my needs and I also want to avoid any unnecessary strain on the panel driver. This monitor is also notorious for sometimes just going black and requiring a power cycle to come back, or in worst cases killing itself and never coming back at all.

If it works fine at lower refresh rates, first try reorganising the DP/HDMI cable away from any sources of electrical interference. Then check connectors for any debris or dust. Then see if the problem goes away at 120, 100, 75 Hz etc. Disable overdrive on your panel in the settings. Try 120 again. If the problem occurs at 120 and gets worse, I'm afraid it's more than likely going to be your monitor failing and needing an RMA.
