As most of you know Nvidia came out with the 980 and 970 last night and the 980 is now being shipped with it's stock sexy cooler yet the 970 has a pathetic looking plastic piece of you know what slapped on it so that the vendors can save a ton of cash. So how do I get a Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 with a stock cooler or reference card in Canada? (Or at least tell me how to get one in the US) And also please do not throw the active cooling solution benchmarks out there I don't really care, I need a blower-style cooler because of my case and I'm in love with the reference card's look.

They can order from newegg.ca and bestbuy.ca not the .com and the 970 is not sold at newegg.ca or bestbuy.ca, or Amazon.ca etc. Your friends are lying if they got an American website to accept a Canadian credit card and a Canadian address. Just doesn't work. Us Canadians couldn't get Google glass and such either.

Interesting. Is this only the case with certain retailers or items, or is it just everything?

Everything, unless they ship to Canada.

This is the GTX 970 Reference on newegg.com: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814132038

May I reiterate that I am a resident of Canada and I am physically not able to order off of bestbuy.com, newegg.com or any other USA site. There is this thing called an exchange rate, import fees, and restrictions that do not allow me to order from these sites.

You can get them at BestBuy. I didnt realize there were any reference GTX 970s until I was walking about the store and saw it. You can even order it online directly from them

I can vouch for that as well. Was browsing around best buy and the wife gave the green light to spend some money. Price was decent 350$ but I couldn't find a brand name or logo on the box, just Nvidia GTX 970. Packaging was premium and pleasant to unpack, full back plate was a bonus. Card is an attractive piece of hardware.

I have two GeForce GTX 970 Reference Design "Whisper/Cooler Silent Edition" created by MANLI with instruction of OcUK.

These Cards are Great, guys!!!!! Builded with GTX 980 PCB, GIBBO'S of OCuK has improved the design by changing the containers in which the inductors are located for better quality items to help reduce and eliminate any possibility of coil whine.

Well, if you compare them with an Asus Strix with 0db technology, yes, they could be louder than that.- But if you compare the Reference with the G1 Gigabyte at the same fan speed, there's not a lot of difference.

For a SLI setting, i keep thinkin' that is better a card that blow out hot air out of the case, and not all around inside the case (or worse, directly on the upper vga). But.. ehy.. personal choice.

SSD!?! WHERE!? WHERE!? I don't know what are you talkin' about!!!!! X°D 😛

True, I used to have reference cards but now I'd prefer my PC suffer over my ears 😛 Everything stays cool though so it's all good for me but it depends on your case aswell.

I haven't even got one yet, and you have all of those haha

Best Buy is currently the only place I know of who has this reference style for the 970. Very nice and seems to be in the higher end for 970's.
