Hi,

i'm a support staff at an organisation with no knowledge about networking .

Recently, the server went down and some guys repaired it without backing up the connectivity settings on the server .

The server was brought back connected to the LAN port but can not be connected to remotely.

what can the done? the server is use to preform application and translating functions.

Just having an IP for the server probably won't do you much good, the server probably had user accounts setup, shares setup, etc...

What exactly did these "some guys" do? Without knowing exactly how you accesses the sever, what rights were set up, what applications were running, no way to get it all back without re-creating it.

IP is the easiest thing to get, just send a ping command to the server name. It will reply with the IP.

The repair guys said they changed the mother broad.

And all these information are missing, two LAN’s configured on the server.
The two LAN’s are;
1. PHB LAN
2. CC LAN

Also required are the;
1. IP address
2. Subnet
3. Gateway
4. DNS server

:(

Just changing the motherboard would not have changed anything else, as long as they did not re-install things.

The info for those settings you need to get from your network, we have no way of knowing how you are setup. Usually servers are setup for static IPs, you can do an ipconfig /all command on the server, should get you the info.

Hello and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums.

Out of interest, can any system connect to any previously mapped network drive? Also, is the server providing Internet access?

Do you know what operating system the server is using - Windows Server 2008 perhaps, or better still Suse 10.3 or other Linux system?
