just bought this monitor a few hours ago and don't really understand how I get it too 144hz? or what cables I need and whether they come with the monitor

I only play csgo and run a 1060 6gb on a ryzen 1600 so I can easily get 144fps...... I asked if I needed to buy anything not if my pc can handle it

idk why people beat around the bush, just answer his question. You can do this in various ways.

If you want your monitor to consistently be at 144hz:
right-click desktop, screen resolution, advanced settings, (under monitor tab) change to 144hz.

Using 144hz for just CS:GO
right-click the game in your library, properties, launch options, type exactly without quotes..."freq -144"
