[SOLVED] How do I get my new cpu to work?

Hey I recently bought a i5 9400f to replace my i3 7100. I put the i5 in and my pc won't boot up, the fans spin for less than a second then stop then when I put the i3 back in, my pc boots up like it normally does

Wrong motherboard, need a B365, Z390 motherboard or a H310, B360, H370 or Z370 board with updated BIOS to work with that 9400F.

Confusing though since the socket is the same.
