I need step by step instructions on hire to hardline my laptop to my router/modem. It's all wifi right now, but I need to hardline. I don't have a landline. My modem/router is a Ariss. I was told it's easy, to just run a cord from my laptop to the router/modem. What kind of cord? Telephone? Which slot on the router do I connect to? See... I'm clueless. Please help.

Solution
You buy an ethernet cable (take your pick - http://www.amazon.com/b?node=464398).

Plug one end into an open spot in the router and the other end into your laptop. And the connectors are very specific so you just have to find the corresponding spots on your router and laptop.

You will want an ethernet cable (cat 5) which you should be able to buy at any computer store -- ask for "an ethernet cable". Your laptop will have ONE of these somewhere on it.

There are a few different Ariss routers, but your device should have one or more of the pictured ports on the back. It may be a yellow port.
