My new Lian Li case does not appear to have any place to install an internal blu ray drive. My last build (2011), all the cases had a slot at the front part of the case for DVD drives. Lian Li case has fans there. Are these drive now obsolete? Any help on where to put the or how to do it would be appreciated.

External facing 5.25" drive bays are becoming less and less common.
If you want one, you need to buy a case that has one.
You can't really retrofit into a case not designed for one.
(well, you can, but this involves taking a dremel to a brand new case and lots of DIY)

Other option...an external USB connected optical drive.

Lian Li lancool II mesh. I bought an internal beacuse they are cheaper and have 2x the read speeds of external bluray players. I could set it up as an external or remove a couple of the HDD bays. Just hoping someone had already did a mod to make it work.

I agree with bignastyid.

I purchased an external drive for the NZXT case. I think it's better. You only hook it up on a need basis.

Don't customize your case. It's great as it is.
