Question How do I install my two 2.5" SSDs?

I currently use 1 NVMe M.2 Samsung 970EVO on my Gigabyte GA-7170X-Gaming mobo. I have two 2.5" SSDs that Im trying to install for more drive space, but they arent showing up when I connect them into the SataExpress slots on the mobo. They aren't showing up in Disk Management and not seeing anytning in BIOS either. Any help would be appreciated!

You don't use the SATA Express ports.

Instead, you use some of the 6x regular SATA ports.
Along with SATA power from the PSU.

Refer to section 1-10 in the user manual, for possible conflicts between the NVMe drive and the SATA ports.

I've tried plugging one into what I believe is the SATA3_1(bottom left when facing ports) based on the mobo manual layout map, but still nothing.. are there BIOS settings I need to verify as well?

You're also connecting the SATA power cable, from the PSU?

Also, try the other ports.

What slot did you install 970 evo M.2 drive into?
If you installed it into upper M.2 slot (M2D_32G),
then only sata ports SATA3_4, SATA3_5 are operational.
SATA drive connected to SATA3_1 port will not work.

If you need all sata ports available, then install 970 evo in lower M.2 slot (M2H_32G).

BTW - use of ports SATA3_6, SATA3_7 require installation of Asmedia sata controller driver.

OK its working, I was able to use the SATA3_5 slot and formatted correctly and ready for use! Thank you for your help and guidance, very much appreciated!
