So im looking to upgrade my graphics card and i dont know which one i should choose and what to look for. and how to know what is compatible and whats not. help would be appricated :) looking to spend 200 dollars around there :)

Solution

The graphics card appears to be compatible but it is hard to find online, could you verify that there are atleast two 6 pin or 6+2 pin? Here are what they look like, dont get it confused with a cpu 4 pin or 8 pin

You should use pcpartpicker.com as a baseline but also do research on what the gpu needs in terms of power (if it needs any 8/6 pins and if your psu has enough of them with the correct amps in the rails), if your case will support it (from length/width), if your mobo has the correct pcie slots, and some other things, give me your pc specs and what gpu you had in mind

THe whole thing should be in thread :)

That card isn't going to give you a very noticeable upgrade. I was thinking more along the lines of an XFX R9 380X which runs about 200 dollars in the US. Your CPU, PSU and case will all support it, and it will give you a more noticeable increase in performance.

I see that, I don't know if it compatible unless you know what the psu is, that is the most important thing

How do you know the psu has the correct pins if he hasn't told you it yet?

Hmm, just feel more comfortable with a nividia u know, but thats just me not knowing about computers 😛

It all depends what he is looking for, what features, but most of the time the r9 series beat the gtx series

yeah this is why I got a r9 390 on the way (had to return last one, doa)

So i should probably go for the XFX R9 380X? one thing i am gonna miss tho is shadow play.. Thanks for the help tho!

Yeah that would be a good option, xfx normally has lower temps and decent performance for lower cost (I saw this when looking for r9 390 because I was on a budget)
However, before buying make sure your psu has two 6 pin, do you know the model of the psu? that would be the best to find out what the rails are too

The only one I found near 200 was xfx r9 380 (including taxes and shipping) on amazon
He said he had a budget of $200

Oh, I feel dumb I thought you meant something else, I know what that is, ignore my comments but yeah go with the xfx version if your psu has the two 6 pins

two 6 pins?
