How do I make everything go onto my D drive

I am building my first custom PC and I am putting in an ssd for window and a 1 TB HDD for everything else but how do I make everything go on the other drive and not the SSD.

When you install a program it will typically ask where you want it installed, select the drive you want that particular program installed on

You mean when you download stuff online ? If that's it then it's easy to go to your browsers settings and change the install location if not then it's what Jameson said.

Do you intend to only install the operating system to the ssd and nothing else?

A typical user or casual gamer normally installs the operating system, drivers, utilities, software applications, and some favorite games to the ssd. Data files and additional games are stored on a hard disk drive. That way a user can take full advantage of ssd performance.
