Question Keep losing data on the new Seagate Portable 5TB HDD

Seagate Portable 5TB External Hard Drive HDD, STGX5000400. The Harddisk Sentinel App shows the HDD inside is ST5000LM000-2U8170

On 8/10, I copied folder "A" from my notebook at home to the new HDD.

On 8//11, I copied folder "B" which contains about 300GB files from work PC to the new HDD, when I plugged HDD into my notebook at home, the folder "B" is gone.

On 8/12, I copied the same folder "B" from work PC to the new HDD, but it was still gone when I plugged it into my notebook. First I used chkdsk, it said it need to fix some error. After that, the folder "B" showed up, but I couldn't enter the folder. Then I used Diskgenius to enter the folder, lots of files in that folder were gone. I had to use DiskGenius to deleted the folder because the windows explorer didn't allow me to do so.

On 8/13, I copied the same folder "B" to the HDD, removed HDD from work PC then plugged it back into work PC again. The folder“B" was still there. But it was still gone after plugged into notebook.
The folder "A" is still there.

On 8/14. I plugs the HDD into work PC, it shows the HDD isn't accessible.

You have to follow safely remove procedure before disconnecting external drive.

Plus, I will add the suggestion to wait another minute or so even after being notifed that "it is safe to remove"....

First: what method are you using to copy this large set of files? Are you using the drag and drop method; or are you clicking on a group of files and selecting copy (which essentially loads them into system memory) and then clicking Paste on the Seagate? If you're using the latter method it could be a system memory problem. You should try using the drag and drop method. Also when copying these files do you get a pop up box showing the copy process with a speed and progress indicator?

Also, when you refer to "work" computer is this your own computer, or a computer controlled by someone else e.g. corporate. If its the latter you may be prohibited from copying the files onto the type of device you're trying to use.
