Hi, today i just got an ssd(367 gb in primary and 100gb in unlocated) to use as secondary drive and use my hdd(1tb, 333gb in use) as primary. i wanted to move the os to the ssd for a faster boot, first i tried with EaseUs and Minitool but they both said i dont have enough space.

now what i want to do is install the os from a usb because people told me its safer and easier, the problem is that i dont know how to proceed, i couldnt find a guide where the person doesnt replace the old drive, i still want to use the hdd and the sdd at the same time

ty in advance

Solution
Ok.
Migrate the entirety of the Disk 0 to Disk 1, the SSD>

Only change the steps below is to first DELETE the partitions on the SSD, to make one big space.

-----------------------------
Specific steps for a successful clone operation:
-----------------------------
Verify the actual used space on the current drive is significantly below the size of the new SSD
Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL...

Im gonna bump in real quick. I have to initiate my ssd before i can begin cloning my C: drive. When im formatting the ssd, what letter am i to select? If i name it any letter Does it just automatically become a C: drive when i clone the sdd?

i have a 860 evo 500gb

Please don't hijack in the middle of someone elses issue. You are at a different point in the process.
Any replies to you will get things all screwed up.

You should not have to do anything to your drive prior to the clone process.
Did you read my steps above?
If not...again:

Verify the actual used space on the current drive is significantly below the size of the new SSD

Power up

Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
This is to allow the system to try to boot from ONLY the SSD
Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up

It should boot from the new drive, just like the old drive.
Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old drive and wipe all partitions on it.
This will probably require the commandline diskpart function, and the clean command.

Ask questions if anything is unclear.

In the top section, Unselect the 2 partitions to the right.
WinRE and Recovery.
Then clone the others.

This will leave all the space to the right of the C as Unallocated. After the clone process, you can Extend the C into that unused space.

ok so now i turn off the computer, plug in the hdd on the 2nd sata cable, then delete eveything there?
And here is where the 'verify boot order' comes in.
If the SSD is not first in the boot order...the system will boot from the OS on the old drive.

But yes, connect it and remove everything from the drive.
Not just 'format', but delete all partitions in Disk Management, then format.
