[SOLVED] How do I pair a Logitech mouse to a different Logitech unifying receiver?

I got a Logitech mouse and a Logitech unifying receiver. Neither of them came together, though. I think the Logitech unifying receiver was for either a keyboard or a mouse that my friend gave me.

What I want to know is: how do I pair them??

Are you sure that the mouse has power? and is turned on?

Double check the model of the mouse? Not every Logitech wireless device will work with their unifying receivers. Others use "Logitech non-unifying protocol (2.4GHz) with Nano USB receiver." Usually the ones found in the inexpensive keyboard+mouse combos. Off the top of my head, models like the MK235 and MK270 come with mice like that.

I know the Unifying Receiver and Nano Receiver aren't cross compatible. All Unifying Receiver products should work together until you hit the max number of connected devices. But I don't know if all the Nano Receiver products work together or not. I do know you can connect and use both receivers on the same machine at the same time.

I think youre right. Even though I got the "special connecting" logo on the unifying receiver, I dont have the same logo on my mouse. The software specifically states that the mouse must have the same logo to ensure it connects to the unifying receiver.

That being the case is there a none-unyfying receiver for this specific mouse?

It has a breakdown of all the devices and which receiver they use, and which are interchangeable. You can buy spare receivers off Logitech's site, but it doesn't look to be worth it. My sister got one of the non-unifying keyboard and mouse bundles last year for about $10, and they're charging $15 for just the replacement receiver.

Your best bet is probably to see if your friend still has his receiver and isn't using it. If he also got a combo, he could still need it to use the keyboard that came with it.

Hi.. I went to the site you posted but I cant match my mouse to the site. Without pictures to match my mouse theres no way to find out which is my mouse. Do you have another site that can supply this?

I'm not even sure if you can tell all Logitech mice apart by how they look. Does the mouse have a model or P/N on the bottom? I'm looking at one right now, and it has "M170" stamped in the plastic between the top two slide points. That's the model. It also has a P/N, "810-005157" which if you google it, would give you the model ID. It's not listed on the page I found but it is on Logitech's support pages.

And I just noticed something, check under the battery cover on your mouse. This mouse has a slot inside, where it can store the receiver. Any chance yours has its receiver inside right now?

Theres info I found when I opened the batt compartment. It says: P/N: 810-000153 or 810-000163. Theres a series of other numbers below it but its so small to read.

Cant find any slot to store the scanner, whatever that is.

Looks like a Logitech LX8, M-BCK135. Depending on region, some had the same red Connect button, others had a black Reset button, but it appears to be purely cosmetic. Logitech refers to both interchangeably.

They connect with the original 27 MHz Mini (huge by today's standards) USB receiver:

With a 6' (!) range, and Logitech does not seem to carry them anymore. A quick scan of eBay showed tons of LX8's, almost all of them missing their receivers so they may be prone to failure. Cheapest I could find a receiver was $15, so you're probably better off just buying a new mouse. If you just like the shape, the M510 looks pretty similar.

I think youre right, I'm better off buying a new one. I'm looking for one thats bluetooth and recharcheable with a recharge base. Do you have any recommendations?

My best recommendation is to physically try them out somewhere. Hard to know what's going to be comfortable, especially after several hours, without getting your hands on one. Personally, I wound up switching to trackballs years ago in order to put less strain on my wrist.
