It may sound stupid, but I've got a 1280 x 1024 monitor and I want to play at 900p
(here's my monitor if you are curious: https://www.cnet.com/products/samsung-syncmaster-930bf-lcd-monitor-19-series/specs/)

any idea at what resolution I shall lower for 900p/720p gameplay?
My main reason to play at 900p is because I've seen huge improvement like in this video

Wrong terminology. 900p is 1600x900 (higher res than your monitor) and 720p is 1280x720 (a resolution that would look funky on your monitor). Both of those are widescreen resolutions, you don't have a widescreen monitor. I always advise playing at your native resolution as there are other ways to improve performance. However...

Change it in-game via settings, or in your GPU's global settings for the whole computer to run at that res. For a more specific answer you need to give a more specific question tho.

However, you'll probably want a resolution of 1024x768 if you insist on lowering it, and the vast majority of games have a video setting section. You'll want to look for that to change your resolution.

Again, there are better ways to improve performance besides lowering the resolution, and I would suggest opening another thread to ask assistance for that.

What he said... 😛 It's a 4:3 monitor and keeping it at the same aspect ratio and not raising the resolution above 720p or 1024p/4:3 as a lot of games will allow that.
