I have two LED strips from a different project. I’d like to wire them to use with my PC.

My first RGB LED Strip is this multicolored one: https://www.hglrc.com/products/hglrc-led-board-w554b-ws2812-for-flight-controllers

My second LED strip is a simple, white only two wire one.

My mother board is a Gigabyte 590-Airbus Elite: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z590-AORUS-ELITE-rev-10#kf

It has two LED slots labeled:
  1. LED DEMO - two pins on a JST-PH connector
  2. D_LED_1 - three pins labeled V, D, G

Can I power the simple two pin LED strip with LED DEMO, just to get it to glow when my PC is on?

Also, more importantly, can I power the RGB LED strip with the D_LED_1 connector with Power to V, Ground to G, and the last wire to D and RGB should work?

Thanks!

Solution
an 3pin aRGB header will be almost identical to a standard RGB 4pin header but there is a missing 3rd pin.

if your new device matches the header, go ahead.
if not, you may be damaging both device and motherboard header.
a standard RGB device connects via a 4 pin header.
an addressable RGB(aRGB or sometimes labeled D-RGB) device connects via a 3 pin header.

inserting either of these two types of devices into the other's header will damage the device, the motherboard, or both.

your board offers:
2 x aRGB headers
2 x RGB headers

So in theory my rgb led board linked in the op, should work in the D RGB slot? Or should I not risk using these since they were not made specifically for PCs?
