how do i put the resolution change across the bottom of my screen so that i can change it as needed

it really just depends of your video card drivers program Intel , ATI , and Nvidia all offer a taskbar tool that allows you to change your settings via a small icon on your taskbar. Just right click your desktop go to personalize / display settings / advanced settings then look for your video card custom properties and search for a task bar icon button. They range from location based on the brand of video card that you use.
