How do i recover a lost printed file

i tried printing a document. i sent it to a printer that was disconnected. i then deleted the document by closing the program without saving the fille. i changed the printer port on the printer which had the documents in the queue to a port which had a printer connected. that was supposed to print the documents with the new connected printer. however all it accomplished was that the documents disappeared from the queue and they are no where to be found. they are not in the spool folder either.
how do I recover them?

If you didn't save the document, and if the application doesn't have "autosave" feature (or it was turned off) you've lost it.
