Wow, Hello all, This must be something to solve...

Just opened up my Tool on my windows to firstly check and then as usual manually defrag and trim my drives after I had deleted and moved some files around, but that's not the point or the issue that I require help with.

I noticed that: I have my DVD Drive all of a sudden listed here too, obviously one cant defrag or trim one's DVD Drive right.

Hence the question how do I go about removing the drive from being listed in this list? (listed as \\?\Volume{random number} without advanced view on)

I would really appreciate any method you all come up with to solve this.

Solution
i don't see any way to disable it via registry in a way that only stops one drive. Seems you can add a key to stop it completely but that isn't what you are after - link
its probably a registry setting but I can't find another case of it happening.

Most people have opposite, drives not showing in there or Hdd showing as ssd when they aren't

does it matter? you can disable any actions it might want to do in change settings, so it might just be a glitch.

It's probably a glitch, doesn't seem to be to be impacting anything other than being an eye sore.

Thanks for the insight.

Looking at registry fixes now.

back up registry before making changes in there.

All right, I wont change anything unless it proves to be the correct entry.

Found something :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices

This registry entry has the right volume paths, and also changes the volume paths when restarting the pc, these volume paths listed here also correspond with what is listed in optimize drives, even for drives that cant be optimized.

There has got to be another registry location for the list in optimize drives, this has to be the one that gets to be fixed, now if only I can find it.

Seems we need to keep looking, looking for a solution... either way it might just get solved by the next windows update.

Got so many games and content to be busy with, one minor glitch isn't going to halt to progress.

Post here if you find a way.
