How do I set up gmail as my email default application so my scanner will recognize it?

When I scan to email an error message says no default email application but i use gmail and i only have one account

Install off-line mail client like Windows Live, Outlook, Thunderbird etc, then configure it to use your GMail account.

You need to setup either Outlook if you have it or Windows Live mail with your Gmail. It CAN NOT scan directly to GMAIL.com as it is not an app but a website.
