How do I take screenshots with Nvidia graphics card?

I just recently installed an Nvidia 980 ti. The GPU is magnificent. Games and other graphical applications are able to look better and play better than I've ever experienced before. BUT... every time I hit print screen now, and attempt to paste the image in Paint, all I get is a solid black field. Does anyone know a nice, simple, non-cpu intensive way to get good screen shots?

Thanks

I get screens shots with steam and I think the default is f12.

Games have normally hotkeys for that. Because the print screen doesn't work because of the different window and screen modes.

Check out the hotkeys of your game and if you want a global screenshot ability, get something like the programm "Screenshoter". You can bind a key and it will save it whereever you want.

Thanks for the input but I've had issues with FRAPS. It seems to just stop working sometimes and if I don't check immediately I miss the shot I was after.

As for Steam, no offense but NO. I despise Steam and allow it on my machine only because I absolutely have to in order to play some games and even then I've gone to extreme lengths to curtail it's penchant for mischief. Steam regularly force updates heavily modded single player games, has no respect for my preferences and in order to protect myself from its "service" I've gone as far as blocking it's internet access, modifying windows host files and even creating a petition asking them to give me the option to decline updates. Personally I'm hoping GOG takes over the world. So... err... anyway. Rant over.

Any other suggestions? I looked into Geforce and Shadowplay but don't see any options there. MSI Afterburner supposedly has the function but I'm unfamiliar with it. Are there any tried and true screen capture tools for Nvidia cards?

How about trying MS Snipping Tool (comes with Win 7 and above) and then paste into Paint...

For a better snapshot program try Gadwin Systems PrintScreen - freeware download...it allows setting up
for an entire monitor or any rectangular area (can capture multi-monitors too)
It can auto-name and save to any file you want with one mouse buttom click or a selected keyboard click.
It can also re-size and maintain aspect ratios of the snapshots.
