How do i update bios on a msi board?

Yo!
I've been having problems with my new gtx980 like B2 error on startup. I imagine this is because my bios is to old. But i have no idea how to update my bios, i tried downloading a file from msi:s site but it just said that i had the wrong version of windows. Should i try using the live update? Or is better to do it manually?

I have a 970A-G46 with the bios version 1.4.

Search the MSI website for that model number. They should have detailed instructions on how to do it. Just be sure to follow them carefully, as you can completely disable your system with an incorrect BIOS version (especially if it doesn't have a back-up i.e. Dual Bios or some such.)

I just downloaded msi live update and let it do it for me (not through windows).
