how do i update msi bios without using live update 5?

I have a msi 970a-g46 mb and have come to the conclusion that live update 5 is junk. It has taken hours trying to install bios update and the more I read about it the more users say get rid of it. i am a pc noob so not sure how to update bios and drivers without this software. Every time I try to find updates from msi site it trys to get me to download lu5. What to do?
