Question How do i update my bios for a Asus b450 motherboard.

this is the first time that i'm upgrading my cpu. I'm currently moving from a 3100 to a 5600, on my asus tuf b450 plus motherboard.

I wanted to know the correct steps to get it working.

should i update the mother board before or after i install the new cpu?

OK, next step is to find out exactly which BIOS version you currently have.
You can boot into the BIOS and determine the version.
Then you need to look at all the BIOS versions after what you have. For example if you have a version older than 1002 then you need to update an AMD driver also.
Beyond that note, I think you can to the latest BIOS version.

The instructions could be clearer but basically you need to see what bios version you have now and read the notes for the latest bios. On my asrock b350 board, I had to have the flash drive formatted to fat32 if I remember correctly. Also my board has what they call a bridge bios. In other words I had to flash the bios multiple times because you had to install a certain bios version before you could install the latest version. The notes on the website for your board should tell you this information if you need to do that.
