Hey guys

Several years ago I relied on you guys for parts needed to build my first gaming rig and now I require your assistance yet again to upgrade it. My rig has gotten to the point where even console are out-performing it.

I would like to be able to run The Witcher 3 and future games as it is the first game that my computer doesn’t even meet minimal requirement.

Here are my current computer spec:

Cooler Master HAF 922 Mid Tower Computer Case
Lite-On DVD Burner
Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5 “ Internal Hard Drive
ASUS P7P55D-E Pro LGA 1156 Intel P55 SATA 6 Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Sapphire 100282SR Radeon HD 5850 1GB 256 – bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP
G. Skill Ripjaws Series 16 GB
Intel Core i5-750 Lynnfield 2.66Ghz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor
OCZ StealthXStream 700W SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Active PFC Power Supply

Thanks guys! Your suggestion have been great all these years.

You made me start thinking about triple monitoring again, even after I've decided 1440p is better. But even after doing so I'm back to the same place. I am waiting for either the Acer or Asus 1440p IPS monitor. One way to look at it is in terms of pixels:
2560x1440: 3,700,000 vs
5760x1080: 6,200,000
That means you need a hell lot of GPU power to push decent fps on 3 monitors.
For BF4 maxed out: Based on reviews a 980ti, a 1440p monitor can do 85fps. That's awesome. But imagine using a 980ti with 3 monitors. You'd have to game at Medium not Ultra to get reasonable gaming fps. Even if you had 2x970 you still would have to turn down the graphics a lot. If you want 5760x1080 then I'd SLI a 980 or 980ti. Nothing less. That's damn expensive. Something to think about.

1440p is not better and I'll tell you why. For most people when they see 3 monitors, they think it either a gimmick, can't stand the bezel or say it too distracting. That usually what their response is. But for me it different, the first time I saw triple monitor and saw someone play a game, it wasn't distracting at all, in fact it was within second that my eyes adjust to it, like it seem to match perfect with my peripheral vision. I knew instantly why the two screen to the side was more blurry because that what real life look like. Sure it not exactly like real life, but it as close as it get.

If the image were not blurry on the side then it would be really distracting and almost unplayable.

But think of it this way. 1440p, 4K, maybe 8 to 16K in the future is nothing ground breaking compare to 1080p. It just better graphic and better detail. However triple monitor is life-changing, it the next evolution in gaming and so many people have tell me that once you use 3 monitors, you won't ever go back to one.

What your telling me is that your settling for 1440p, and not that it better.

Your right powering up a triple monitor is somewhere halfway between 1600p and 4K so it definitely is going to be tougher to run than 1440p.

I am banking that the Fury X and Fury is the titan killer that AMD is advertising it as.

Worst case scenario, I can always just go back to 1080p and be able to run Witcher 3 at past 100fps. Triple monitor give you option that you don't get at 1440p. And if you go back to 1080p on a 1440p monitor, it won't look as good since it not its native res.

I do realize that I'm sacrificing graphic for immersion but I think immersion is better than graphic. Your going to be able to game longer due to immersion then any graphic setting.

There also those 21:9 monitor but after looking at those, they are just wider HD but they don't make full use of your peripheral vision and just isn't anywhere as immersive.

I have thought over my choice very carefully and I don't mind playing Witcher 3 on medium setting if I'm getting a life changing experience that no many gamers get to experience.

Yes, I am not upgrading my computer anymore, but instead I am building a whole new computer. I do not have an exact budget so everything is up for grab.

All I know so far is that I am going to buy the AMD Fury or Fury X GPU and the Corsair 760T case.

I am also thinking of buy 3 of this monitor -

It is by far the thinnest bezel that could be made possible. I want to know if you know anything about this monitor?

Could you give me component for a full build via pcpartpicker that would not bottleneck my AMD Fury or Fury X build? Also do you know if any of the motherboard that you might suggest to me would work with Pascal or future HBM 2 gpu? Because I'm kind of surprise that I have to upgrade my mobo to support new CPU and GPU and I am wondering how often do mobo get expire?

Thanks, and looking forward to your help with my build.

you should make this thread solved and open a new objective.

As for the future Pascal, its set to be a bit faster than the max speed per lane of a PCIE 3.0. But you wont be needing to change motherboard to use it, it will be compatible with motherboard that have older versions of PCIE. With a motherboard your will most likely not notice any performance drop compered to motherboards that will have pcie 4.0 (which is not release yet.

Most likely no i5 4690k, E3 v3, i7 (all LGA) will not bottleneck the AMD Fury
About monitor you only need one with tin bezel if you are going to a multiple monitor setup. If you are not, you can go with one of this:
