How do I use the mic on my headphones instead of my laptop mic?

Hey,

I have the Skullcandy Crushers. They have a mic on a remote that is on the wire of the headphones. I want to be able to use it on Skype instead of my laptop mic. My laptop only has one jack, which the headphones are plugged in to. I've tried going into control panel and scanning it under the recording category, but it doesn't show up.

Any ideas?

Bottom right of the screen, Click the volume icon, Go to recording devices, Target your scullcandys microphone, Right click, set as default communication device. done

in order to completely disable the microphone, Right click the laptop microphone, Disable it, this will force the headset to kick on

Nothing shows up for my headphones/mic.
