[SOLVED] how do you get a scanjet 5100c connected via parallel controller to work?

so i have a HP Scanjet 5100c Scanner, i connected it via the parallel controller i installed on to my pc, installed the controllers driver, and i am having trouble figuring out how to get windows to recognise it. does anybody know how to get one of these things working?

yea i know its not supported but thats not what i need to know. i need to know how to work around the problem. (there is always a way)

The link in the other post has a "what can I do" with some alternative programs to try to get it running. The "fix" may simply be to get a newer USB scanner with Win 10 support (if that is what you are running). Assuming there is always a fix for something is not correct, were you able to find one before you did the post? If you could not find a fix with a web search not much else to try.

Looks like VueScan does support this scanner:

Notice it doesn't explicit say 5100c - but testing the trial version should tell if it works.
