Hey guys, how do you think about the idea of a Thunderbolt SAN?
Is it available/ needed?
I personally will like to have one if it's available for saving some trouble. What do you guys think of it?

I guess that's the problem right now for not having this kind of product in the market, all I can see is switch that convert the protocol to Fiber system storages or Ethernet. That's why I would like to see something like this in the market, it should be able to change our workflow as Thunderbolt storage users. What's your opinion on this, @WebBeachBoy?

I like the Thunderbolt specs but it's never going to be taken up mainstream. It will always be a marginalised technology. Kind of reminds me of 'infra-red' where is that now?

I was surprised to read recently that a NAS drive connected by staid old fashioned Ethernet transfered data at the same rate as with a hip new USB3 connection. I have always liked Ethernet - stable, fast and error free but I think that the future of data connection will be wireless technology. That's what the public want and manufacturers will produce what they think the mass public will buy. Buy into peripheral technology, however wonderful, and you risk being marginalised and then abandoned when the manufacturer stops supporting the system.
