We use a small PC with RAID to store a lot of our data. We now have several computers mapped to its hard drive, but now when we try to add another user it says that we have reached the maximum number of connections. Please note: We are not using Windows Homegroup, but merely allowing all connected users to map to the data drive. Thus, the drive is shared with Everyone.

Any ideas on how to increase the number of connected users???

Windows 7 has a limit of 20 inbound connections. It's designed as a Workstation solution, not as a general purpose server.

If you need more connections than that your options are to use Windows Server (which tends to be rather expensive), to buy a dedicated NAS device, or use Linux as a file server. I've listed those in order of likely cost to you, cheapest last; the NAS device would be the easiest to implement.
