I have a 250gb ssd and 500gb hdd i want to have windows, games and my music program on my ssd and everything else on my hdd

Solution
To make it easy, first install your SSD and left HDD untouched - literally.
- Boot up from install disk, do partition on your SSD (i suggest to have only a partition for SSD) and install windows as usual.
- Configure what you need to do with your windows (users, install essential software, etc)
- Turn off your computer and safely install your HDD in place
- Turn on PC, go to BIOS and lift up your SSD to 1st boot priority (optional, just a super bit faster)
- Go to Disk Management, for win8 you can look up here http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows-8/a/disk-management-windows-8.htm
- Make partitions for your 500gigs HDD and there you go...
Now you can place whatever you like in your HDD and SSD, make sure you don't mixed up their...
why did you bought a 250gb ssd and 500gb hd. 120gb ssd and 1tb hdd its a better option for putting the windows, heavy programs like photoshop on ssd and the other stuff on hdd

Not everyone installs the same programs, have the same amount of data or does the same thing with their computer. So the ideal SSD/HDD capacity varies to each person's needs.

For example I have a 500GB SSD and a 500GB HDD, and I've never gotten close to maxing out either drives.

sure but he could save those money from the ssd
