This question is more then likely a silly one but if I put a new HDD with no data or OS along side my SSD with windows and what not can I use the HDD as extra storage? Can I install games by just changing its install directory? If Direct X 12 for example is on the SSD but the game is on the HDD will the game will still run fine?

Solution
1. Yes you can use it as extra storage, you just need to partition it and give it a drive letter (which Windows can do most of for you).

2. Yes you can install games to it by selecting the install directory to be that drive, I have Steam games installed on a secondary HDD all the time.

3. The game will still run because DX12 is loaded into memory when used so it doesn;t matter if it is on the SSD or HDD it will run.
