I'm not sure if this is the correct place to put this. (cause im a dummy) But i was wondering how do programs like Realtemp work? does the cpu have a actual temperature sensor in it? does it just do some magical math to estimate what the temperature is?
A quad core CPU has 5 sensors.
A six core as 7 sensors.
One sensor for each core, and a sensor for the whole cpu itself.
Those sensors communiacte with the BIOS.
Those softwares only tell you the information that the BIOS has.
Hope I could help!

Yes the CPU has inbuilt temperature sensors inside. This allows the CPU to communicate to the BIOS and show the temperatures in there as well as other programs. Other software then looks in the BIOS and displays the temperatures inside the program.
